Not ‘Til Now

You were just a monster ‘til now

Now you don’t drink all the time

Now you don’t hit me

Now you don’t hit mommy

Now you don’t get angry

Now you just get hungry

Now people protect us from you

Now we have a fence to guard us

Now the neighbors come over to make sure we’re ok

Now I don’t have to lie to them

Now I can sleep at night

Now I can remember your good parts

Now I can love you.
